I am not very mechanically inclined. The truth is that I have no idea what kind of engine I have under my hood. For all I know, I could have a George Foreman Lean Mean Machine providing all my horsepower.
So when I see some drivers pushing their vehicles so dangerously and aggressively through traffic, what I picture under their hoods are a dozen tiny men trying to keep up with the “me first” attitude of the driver by furiously shoveling coal directly into the engine.
How Drivers Can Avoid Common Errors
Having a “me first” attitude will keep anyone from being a defensive driver. Because being a defensive driver requires good judgment, and good judgment develops from having a positive driving attitude.
When you are behind the wheel, are you:
- Being courteous?
- Prepared to forgive the minor mistakes of other drivers?
- Obeying all the traffic laws?
The art of defensive driving starts with having a positive attitude. Maintaining a postive attitude as you drive will help you to avoid many common driving errors, make your driving experience more pleasant, and will go a long way toward insuring your safety, as well as the safety of those around you.
